Breaking the mold of traditional Ayyappan films, the director explains that ‘Sree Ayyappan’ is a “pukka terrorist” thriller combined with family sentiments. Unlike usual storylines that focus solely on the pilgrimage or miracles, this film explores a high-stakes scenario where the holy shrine is targeted on Babri Masjid Day.
Vishnu Venjaramoodu also highlights a chilling coincidence: the script was written two years ago, yet it strangely mirrors recent real-world security alerts and blasts, making the film’s subject matter timelier than ever.
